How often you’ve felt that you’re stuck in the middle with an emotional barrier…..you’re in some kind of ‘hung situation’…how do you wriggle out of it?

Emotions get a boil due to our multiple relationships. We face similar and dissimilar situations in life and draw different experiences. Situations keep changing for us when we’re tied up with our own parents, brothers, sisters, friends, relatives, colleagues at workplace etc. We differ in opinions, views and ideas, which trigger our emotions and when we’re dealing with it, we draw experiences. These emotional experiences become personally significant and the reactionary response is different for every individual. If we deeply analyze these emotional experiences, they connect with our feelings directly. Though feelings could be a resultant factor of an emotion, and emotions are confused with feelings and moods. The American Psychological Association (APA) define emotion as – “a complex reaction pattern, involving experiential, behavioral and physiological elements.” In contrast, the APA describes mood as – “any short-lived emotional state, usually of low intensity.”

Our experiences, beliefs, memories, knowledge and various other factors influence our feelings. Human beings can’t think about their existence without emotions, which regulate our mind and body. Emotions attract us to each other, emotions can soak us in tears and we need to have an understanding to respect other people’s emotions. We can’t ignore the emotions in critical situations, which could put anybody’s life in danger. Here, it is important that we should be capable to understand human emotions in a better way and attend to people with deep attention, sympathy and motivate them and pull them out of the emotional barrier.

In any given situation, all emotions can be bad or good, it all depends on the situation find ourselves. Most of the time, our experiences are related to emotional category defined by anger, joy, sadness, disgust, hopelessness, resentful, fear, shame, guilt, worries and despair that sink us deeper and deeper when we pair with negative emotions and don’t know how to get out of such a state of mind .At other times, it’s all good – happiness, confidence, inspiration, cheerfulness, gratitude, hope, joys, love envelop our life.

Your emotions can influence your near and dear ones, if you share a deeper emotional relationship. Emotions can be a one-sided affair or a two-sided affair or it could’ve a multiple pairing depending on the kind of relationships we keep and relate to. Any relationship, if it has to survive must adhere to understanding the interpersonal exchanges dealing with thoughts, opinions, moral values and which must be on a similar level of perception. If any disorientation sneaks into your relationship and gets affected and is on the verge of breaking up, then both individuals are responsible for the dissimilarity that creates the void between them. Understanding the state of mind of a person according to a situation matters most and how we control our emotions to match the situation at hand. We cannot indulge in blame games to throw the guilt feelings at each other. A good emotional conversation with renewed ideas and opinions should give a novel reason for survival. We must have refreshing ideas to express our desires and strengthen our relationships, most relationships become stale without the enthusiasm and we carry a static image that is defined by our emotional bearing, which disturbs the equilibrium with our partner. Emotions or moods are infectious.

Depression

It would not be a hypothetical statement, if we agree on this fact that nearly half of the population of our country is living in a state of depression and the predominant factor that defines the development, is chiefly emotional and due to financial imbalance. The state of depression has taken thousands of lives and the emergence of situations plays a vital role in deciding the thinking pattern of human beings. A financially well-off individual can withstand a serious jolt that could influence his health, business links etc., but a financially broken individual will slowly write his own obituary under profound depression. This factor teaches us to become resourceful in life so that we can deal with situations that examine us in varied parameters.

I recollect a situation where I met a beautiful old woman leading an opulent life living in a three BHK flat, but she was sunk neck deep in depression. Despite that frustrating depression, she dragged on for the last 15-20 years with the help of medicine with psychiatric treatment. Loneliness caused her depression to mount to a terrible degree with no one to understand her emotions. Her children chose to live in foreign locations and left her to suffer in isolation. When I started spending a little time with her every day, I listened to her thoughts and ideas and emotions that had sprung up from the situation she was facing by living alone. But my entry changed the situation for her and the ‘internalization of emotions’ got to an even ground with mutual respect defined by love and sympathy. I began with identifying the priorities in her life and tried to understand everything she wanted to express through her emotions. She was filled with a renewed enthusiasm to live and rejoice her life. We would spend time out and visit different places to change situations and situational experiences played a great role in resurrecting her life. Emotional experiences got a new changeover and after some time she stopped taking medicines for emotional break-ups or mood swings.

By this example, I wish to share my experience about how important it is to understand Human Emotions and if peoples want to read my expression in Hindi I will present it as soon.
